      CENTRE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRY AND THE INTER-AMERICAN INVESTMENT CORPORATION SIGN
      COOPERATION AGREEMENT


      The fund will greatly benefit the development of Caribbean economies



      NEW ORLEANS- The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) and the Centre for the Development of Industry (CDI) signed today a cooperation agreement at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, on the occasion of the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the IIC and the Inter-American Development Bank. The IIC will work with CDI to support the development of private sector companies in the Caribbean countries of Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

      The CDI is financed by the European Development Fund under the Lomé Convention. Its objective is to encourage and support the creation, expansion, and restructuring of industrial companies in the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

      The agreement includes the systematic identification of projects to which the CDI will assist with the preparation of feasibility studies and related preinvestment support for presentation to the IIC for possible financing of the investment project.

      The agreement was signed for the IIC by Mr. Jacques Rogozinski, General Manager, and for the Centre for the Development of Industry by, Mr. Fernando Matos Rosa, Director.
