Binational peace plan includes environmental protection, integration

Inter-American Development Bank President Enrique V. Iglesias will hold a news conference in New Orleans at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, to inaugurate the Consultative Group Meeting for Peru and Ecuador to support the Binational Development Plan, one of the pillars of the 1998 peace accords that ended a border conflict.

The presentation will take place in Room 298 of the second floor of the Morial Convention Center, the site of the IDB Annual Meeting that is being held March 23-29.

The Binational Development Plan is a long-term undertaking whose projects are designed to reduce poverty, protect the environment, and support integration. The international donor community is expected to continue its support for the border development plan during the New Orleans meeting.
