IDB APPROVES $80 MILLION LOAN FOR BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Support for first phase of program to improve student achievement in rural and marginal urban schools
An $80 million IDB loan will support a program to improve basic education for children in rural and marginal urban areas of the Dominican Republic. Schools in disadvantaged areas have higher dropout and grade repetition rates than those in better-off areas. The Dominican program seeks to raise learning levels in maths and language as well as graduation rates in participating schools. (Photo by W. Heinz)
