IDB OFFICIALS TO SPEAK AT INFRASTRUCTURE CONFERENCE IN ATLANTA |

Three officials of the IDB Group will speak at the Infrastructure Opportunities in South America II conference, to be held in Atlanta Nov. 5-7, on business contracts that result from lending by the Inter-American Development Bank and its affiliate, the Inter-American Investment Corporation. Ron Scheman, IDB executive director for the United States, will be among the opening speakers at the Nov. 6 plenary session, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Gerhard Lair, an IDB cofinancing specialist, and Robert McEntire, a liaison officer of the U.S. Department of Commerce who is attached to the IDB, will speak on "Doing Business with the Multilateral Development Banks," in a session on Nov. 5 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Steven Reed, a regional coordinator for the Inter-American Investment Corporation, will describe the activities of the IIC in a session from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, and he will outline opportunities that result from equity investments and project financing by the IIC for small- and medium-sized firms. The conference, to be held at the Westin Peachtree Plaza on 210 Peachtree St., N.W., is sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
