MIF APPROVES $1,260,000 TO ASSIST MICROENTERPRISE IN ECUADOR

Innovative voucher system to be used in training program

The Multilateral Investment Fund today announced the approval of a $1,260,000 grant to Ecuador to establish a pilot program providing technical training to microentrepreneurs.
The project will train about 30,000 microenterprise workers and owners in business management, technology, and small-scale manufacturing, and it will utilize a voucher system as an incentive for participants to enroll and improve their skills and to stimulate a training market.
Innovative pedagogical and administrative techniques will be disseminated among at least 18 training institutions during the program, which will be carried out by the Corporación Financiera Nacional*
Short courses at convenient times will be designed to achieve sustainability and to reflect the concrete needs of microentrepreneurs and their goals of resolving real programs with dynamic and practical instruction techniques.
The Multilateral Investment Fund, an autonomous fund administered by the Inter-American Development Bank, provides grants and investments to promote private sector growth, labor force training and small enterprise modernization in Latin America and the Caribbean.
