The role of the IDB Office in Europe (SOE), located in Paris since 1964, is to contribute to the
strengthening of relations and cooperation between the Bank and its European member countries and Israel, as well as with the institutions of the European Union and other international organizations based in Europe.
The key elements of its mission are
to improve the quality of the dialogue between Europe and Latin America on core issues of development. In this regard, SOE Work Program includes:
(i) representing the Bank in the European member countries and Israel, the European Union institutions, the OECD, the WTO and other European-based international organizations;
(ii) networking European and Latin American key-constituencies in specific areas of best practices and analytical work, in order to improve public policies in LAC and strengthen Europe – Latin America relations;
(iii) carrying out all types of external relations activities in Europe, in coordination with the IDB Office of External Relations;
(iv) providing information and analysis to Headquarters on European events and issues that may have an impact on the Bank’s activities;
(v) representing the Bank in meetings and conferences; and
(vi) cooperating in the recruitment of European professionals.
