Regional Public Goods Initiative

Results of the 2016 Call for Proposals

On July 20th, 2016, the Board of Executive Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a list of 15 proposals, which together will receive US$9.45 million in grants under the Regional Public Goods Initiative (RPG Initiative). The objective of the Initiative is to support groups of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) that wish to address challenges or seize new opportunities for development by means of intra-regional cooperation.

The 15 finalists were selected among 117 proposals submitted under this year´s call for proposals of the RPG Initiative. The proposals to be financed in 2016 are:

The RPG Initiative is the Bank’s most prominent grant instrument to support intra-regional cooperation and the collective design of development solutions in LAC. Since its creation in 2004, the RPG Initiative has proven that the IDB is uniquely positioned to provide strategic leadership, technical assistance and financial resources to stimulate South-South cooperation and promote development solutions at the regional level in LAC.

To date, the RPG Initiative has financed 124 projects, investing a total of US$93 million in promoting RPGs in the region.The current portfolio of the RPG Initiative includes 47 projects for a total of US$37 million.
