Subnational Governments on MfDR’s Network

Similar to the national level, subnational governments face difficulties when implementing MfDR programs due to their lack of experience. Therefore promoting activities to share and exchange experiences, best practices and lessons learned on program implementation is needed.

This Network started in July 2008 in response to a demand coming from representatives of sub-national government officials. Over 130 members are sub-national government officials that are responsible for Budget design and execution and/or planning at a State or Municipal level.

Four regional meetings (La Plata in 2008; Mexico City in 2009; Pichincha in 2010; and Rio de Janeiro in 2011) and a couple of national and regional training seminars have been held since the Network first started. It is headed by a president, 3 Sub-Regional Vice-Presidents, and a National Coordinator per country.

The next meeting will be held in 2012.
