Supporting Entrpreneurship in Peru
The IDB mobilized the equivalent of $36 million in Peruvian soles to Mibanco – Banco de la Microempresa S.A. to increase microfinancing to women entrepreneurs in Peru. The resources helped Mibanco to launch a new financial product called Crecer Mi Negocio (To Grow My Business), and provide women microentrepreneurs with loans – ranging from a few hundred dollars for medium-term investment loans to $2000-$3,000 for a business startup – as well as trainning to help make their businesses become more successful. The IDB’s Multilateral Investment Fund supported the training project for women entrepreneurs with a $3 million grant.
