Patricia Jara

Social Protection Lead Specialist - USA

Patricia Jara is a sociologist in the Social Protection and Health Division of the Inter-American Development Bank. Her work at the IDB has focused on policies and programs aimed at helping vulnerable groups. After serving as a professor in the School of Sociology at the University of Chile and a social policy researcher at FLACSO, she spent 13 years working in various capacities in the Government of Chile, particularly the Ministry of Planning and the Social Solidarity and Investment Fund. She participated in the design and implementation of Chile’s social protection system, known as Chile Solidario, and in 2006, she coordinated several psychosocial and family support programs. Patricia is a Chilean citizen and she completed her postgraduate studies with honors in anthropology and development at the University of Chile. (pjaramales@iadb.org)
