    The MIRA Contest

    This IDB-sponsored contest finances the implementation of impact evaluation methodologies applied to institutional capacity building interventions in Latin America and the Caribbean. MIRA will award eight proposals, up to US$50,000 each, from participating think tanks and public and academic institutions.

Congratulations to the winners!

The IDB is glad to announce that MIRA’s selection process has concluded.

A total of 131 proposals were received, from 19 countries and 124 different organizations of Latin-America and the Caribbean. After an evaluation process performed by the MIRA team, 24 proposals were submitted to the review of an expert panel.

The selected projects were:

  • "Evaluación del sistema concesionado versus el sistema tradicional en la reducción de la reincidencia delictual", Chile, Gendarmería-Fundación Paz Ciudadana.
  • “De la participación ciudadana hacia las políticas: El papel de la participación en las Casas Vecinales y cómo tiene impacto en las políticas y la mejora en acceso a servicios Municipales”, Perú, Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima-FORO Nacional Internacional.
  • “Evaluación de Impacto de la Nueva Policía Metropolitana de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires”, Argentina, Policía Metropolitana de la CABA-Asociación Civil Observatorio Social.
  • “Evaluación de impacto de programas de mejora del clima de negocios. Evidencia para la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires”, Argentina, Dirección General de Promoción de Inversiones del Ministerio de Desarrollo Económico de la CABA-CIPPEC.
  • “Evaluación de impacto del Programa de Fortalecimiento del Sistema de Información Financiera Territorial (FOSIT)”, Colombia, Ministerio de Hacienda y Crédito de Colombia-Facultad de Ciencias Económicas, Universidad Nacional de Cuyo.

We appreciate the high interest in the initiative and the quality of the projects submitted. All participants are encouraged to apply to future possible grant competitions of institutional capacity building in the public sector.
