Compensatory Programs
What we do
We study the inequalities in access to education and achievement observed in Latin America and the Caribbean—mapping the efficacy of existing compensatory programs, and supporting the development of effective and innovative programs that target inequality.
Objective
Promote compensatory programs as a tool to reduce the significant education inequalities observed in the region by improving access and increasing the achievement of all students.
Why Compensatory Programs
By decreasing the inequalities in access to education and achievement, we are boosting the quality of education for all children and youth in the region.
By the numbers
While 75% of the richest teenagers graduate from 9th grade, only 40% of the poorest teenagers do. Among the richest third graders, 50% have acquired the knowledge and skills required for that grade compared to 10% among the poorest.
