Inter-American Concert, Lecture and Film Series
The Region's musical talent and a wide range of ideas in the arts, sciences and humanities are highlighted in the Center's Inter-American Concert, Lecture and Film Series, presented at the IDB Conference Center, at 1330 New York Avenue N.W. in Washington, D.C. This Series is a forum for the exchange of ideas and a showcase for outstanding talent from IDB member countries, featuring established as well as upcoming figures in various fields. The series builds alliances with official and private organizations that advance the IDB's agenda as well as that of the Cultural Center.
Concerts
The Concert Series has become one of Washington's most popular musical venues, attracting capacity crowds to the IDB Conference Center Auditorium and receiving enthusiastic reviews in the local press. Outstanding performances have included many of the hemisphere's most cherished celebrities.
Lectures
The Lecture Series has presented speakers on topics as diverse as literature, poetry, architecture, plastic arts, art history, archaeology, theater and dance. These themes are often directly related to the goals of IDB development programs, such as educating women, the status of indigenous peoples and preserving the environment. Outstanding lectures have been reproduced in the Encuentros Series, published in English and Spanish, which serves as an education tool, and is distributed to public libraries and institutions of learning throughout the world.
