IDB-DC Solidarity Program

Volunteers

The IDB-DC Solidarity Program understands that it will take more than financial assistance to empower Latin American and Caribbean communities in the Greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. The Program strongly advocates civic responsibility, especially volunteerism.

By providing time and energy to organizations working with low-income Hispanic and Caribbean immigrants, the lives of thousands of people are enriched. The Program makes a difference through volunteer work, health fairs and drives to collect toys, food, books and clothing. But much more is needed to ensure that our communities have every opportunity to advance socially, professionally and healthfully in American society.

Be part of the IDB Volunteer Network, which disseminates volunteer opportunities in the Washington, D.C. area to IDB staff, retirees and their families and helps them match their interest, talents and skills with specific needs in the community.

IDB Volunteer Policy

To support the volunteer component, the IDB grants its staff two days of paid leave to allow them to carry the Bank's spirit of goodwill through community service activities. This policy aims to promote initiatives directed towards improving the quality of life of the neediest segments of the Latino and Caribbean communities living in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.

IDB Solidarity Award for Bank Staff

To recognize staff and contractual employees for their outstanding contributions to the community, the Bank created the Solidarity Award.
