IDB-DC Solidarity Program

Resources

A large number of the immigrants arrive in the U.S. with low levels of education and training. The unfamiliarity with this country's language and culture, forces them into low-paying jobs and, in some cases, multiple work shifts — leading to isolation, marginalization and social stagnation, and makes them vulnerable to setbacks in their jobs and health. These immigrants need education and information since both bring power — power to effect change in their lives. We must therefore educate them and ourselves continually so that the road to improving the lives of Latin and Caribbean people is paved with information and knowledge.

Below are links to lists of minority outreach organizations, funders, scholarships, published material on Latino and Caribbean issues in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area and throughout the United States, information on youth development, and organizations promoting and supporting the Latino culture through art — valuable resources that can be utilized to educate, empower and progress.
