Urban Development
The Bank supports urban development programs aimed at supplying basic infrastructure for cities and redeveloping and rehabilitating abandoned or underutilized urban areas. To this end, the Bank finances integrated interventions including reclassification of land, infrastructure rehabilitation, creation and improvement of parks and other public spaces, promotion and support for local economic activities, recycling or redevelopment of private buildings, and improvement in social services delivery, among other activities. Foremost attention is given to strengthening local governments’ institutional capacity in urban planning and land use control.
