IDB projects in this area focus on protecting and restoring immovable cultural assets (buildings, urban areas, and sites) of historical importance in order to generate socioeconomic benefits for cities. These projects involve the mobilization of civil society for the purpose of supporting urban rehabilitation projects that include the restoration of buildings, infrastructure and public spaces, but also the establishment of a sustainable process of revitalization of downtown and urban heritage areas.
