There are 200 million people under the age of 30 in Latin America and the Caribbean. Never has thefuture of the region depended so much on a single generation.

Thousands of young people are building stable democracies, sustainable economies and societiesbased on equity; they are social innovators positively impacting their communities. Our goal is tosupport their efforts, strengthen their networks, abilities, and to showcase the important role thatyoung people play in development. The Bank established IDB Youth to support these goals and tomore effectively respond to the needs of young people in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Youth social innovation and participation is crucial to solve traditional development challenges with new solutions. Latin America and the Caribbean need the energy, vision, and creativity of its young citizens to transform their environments.

IDB Youth promotes opportunities for participation, leadership, community service, volunteerism, entrepreneurial development in the world of business and social action, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
