Invitation to submit your candidacy to participate in the IDB Annual Meeting and Youth Day 2012

The Youth Development and Outreach Program (IDB Youth) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Government of Uruguay, MTV Latin America, Pepsi Company from the Southern Cone, and other local partners invite you to submit an application to participate in the “Youth Day” and the IDB Annual Meeting, which will take place from March 15 to 19 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Fourteen youth agents of change will be selected to attend the Annual Meeting activities and a day fully devoted to highlighting the key role young people play in the development process.

“Youth Day” will begin with a community development activity where youth leaders, volunteers, decision makers and personalities will work together to leave a legacy for a community in Montevideo, this year’s Annual Meeting host city.

Following the community development activity, a youth seminar will be held to highlight two important themes: the strategic importance of investing in young people to support poverty reduction and social inclusion efforts, and the role that young people are playing in the development process as Agents of Change. The seminar topics include: Sports and Culture for Development and Innovation.

Activities will end with a mega concert presented by MTV Latin America.

¨Youth Day¨ will provide a platform where youth leaders, development specialists, government officials, private sector and civil society representatives and other personalities will showcase sports, culture and innovation programs that have a positive impact on youth development, and advocate for adequate policies in the youth development sector of the region.

The selected youth leaders are expected to coproduce a document on the youth vision for the Americas and its development in the coming years that will be shared with decision makers and other youth from the region.

Requirements to participate:

• Age 18 to 28.
• Complete and submit the attached application form.
• National from an IDB borrowing member country.
• Valid Passport
• Demonstrate actions and abilities as an innovative Agent of Change in the areas of sports and culture for development in your community (youth leader, social entrepreneur, community volunteer, business entrepreneur).

The conference hosts will cover the costs of flights from the city and country of residence to Montevideo, Uruguay, hotel/accommodation, local transport and food.
