1. How can I register to become a member of the IDB Youth Network?
All young people 15 to 30 years old, or people and organizations that work with youth are eligible to join the IDB Youth Network. Fill out the Registration Form on this website. The Form can be submitted also by e-mail to Bidjuventud@iadb.org or by fax to (202) 623-1402.
2. Our organization has a project proposal but we need financing in order to carry it out. What steps should we take to get financing from the IDB?
The answer varies, depending on the amount, sector, country, and local counterpart financing. In short, the Bank has different types of loans and technical cooperation funding for different sectors or areas of work and the category of the borrowing country. It is required that the organization be a registered entity in its country, have a good record and ideally has government support. Requests should be submitted directly to the IDB’s country office in each country.
Also, in collaboration with our partner the Young Americas Business Trust of the Organization of the Americas (OAS) we have developed a Directory of Institutions that support young entrepreneurs. This Directory lists many organizations in the Latin American and Caribbean region that provide technical support, capacity building, contacts and financing.
3. Does the IDB YOUTH Program make donations or give institutional support to youth programs or events?
From time to time IDB Youth has made small grants to fund a specific component of a project or provided institutional support to an event being carried out by a member of the IDB Youth Network. A formal application for such a donation or support came to us through the Network and involved a project of which we had been kept informed over the course of its execution. As a general rule, we do not sponsor the participation of youth to conferences, seminars, or meetings unless it is an IDB sponsored event. To request this type of support, please write to Bidjuventud@iadb.org
4. We are organizing a regional event for young people. Can you help us publicize it?
If the event is being coordinated by an IDB YOUTH Network member organization we will disseminate to our members. Send us the complete information including the name of the organization and the event, the date, time, place, price, sponsor, goals, program, and the full name of a contact person who can verify the information and provide more details if needed. Send everything to Bidjuventud@iadb.org
