About the Youth Development and Outreach Program (IDB Youth)
In 1995, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) reaffirmed its commitment to young people during its Annual Meeting in Israel by hosting a youth forum. With this event, the IDB recognized the special role young people in the region play in the development of their countries. As a result of the Forum, IDB YOUTH was created to respond more effectively to the needs of young people and to promote their participation and leadership in the development process. The main pillar of the program is its growing network of ten thousand youth organizations representing many young leaders and entrepreneurs engaged in development activities. IDB YOUTH promotes youth development with emphasis on participation and leadership, education, volunteerism and community service, the environment, youth entrepreneurship, and sports and culture for development.
