Improving Latin American and Caribbean Citizens’ Health Day by Day
The IDB promotes better health for Latin American and Caribbean citizens with equity, financial protection and sustainability by tackling two epidemiological challenges: closing the existing maternal and infantile health indices gaps and improving nutrition during pregnancy and early infancy; and checking the growing incidence of chronic, non-communicable diseases;
1. Individuals are informed and share responsibility for their health status.
2. Access to high quality health and nutrition services where continuity of care is achieved.
3. Financial protection is achieved through efficient public expenditures in health.
4. Effective health system governance and inter-sectorial coordination.
