beyondBanking - Awards 2014

The fifth edition of the beyondBanking awards was a success. The winners were chosen from over 150 proposals for the seven categories. An expert committee reviewed the nominations and selected the twenty-one (three per category) with hogher quality. Finally, the public decided the winners with their online vote.

 accessBanking award - promotion of financial inclusion strategies

  • Banca Joven - Banco Nacional de Bolivia (Bolivia)

With the Banca Joven project, Banco Nacional de Bolivia turned its vision to a sector partially unattended by the national banking system: youngs between 18 and 30 years. Until now, the banking bussiness of Bolivia did not have structured credit lines to incorporate youth to the financia and banking world. With Banca Joven, young people hace access to products that meet their needs (first home, first car, education) with preferential rates and longer tenors, as well as benefits in affiliated businesses and a communication channel that fits the segment preferences (social network).

 clearBanking award - strengthening corporate governance, transparency and sustainability reporting

  • Relato integrado - Itaú Unibanco (Brazil)

Itau's Relato integrado is a new approach to corporate communication, connecting financial information with social and environmental sustainability information. It uses the methodology proposed by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), and it intends to present concise information and strategies on how the bank creates value for its stakeholders.

 connectBanking award - dissemination innovative and communication technologies

  • Credimóvil - Banco Familiar (Paraguay)

Credimóvil is an initiative from Banco Familiar that allows self-employed and microentrepreneurs to request credits from their mobile, receiving the approval within seconds. After the approval, the money can be withdrawn at over 500 points enabled with only their ID. Credimóvil is the practical and technological application on mobile phones of Credicédula, a banking project that evaluates the personal credit history through the ID and that has allowed to bring to the financial system the BOP segment.

 equalBanking award – support gender equality and diversity

  • Un compromiso de VIDA para CREER - Banco D-MIRO (Ecuador)

Un Compromiso de VIDA para CREER of Banco D-MIRO has created specific microfinance products for two of the least financed sectors: disabled (CREER products) and people living with HIV-AIDS (VIDA products). Banco D-MIRO complements its business-focused financial products with financial technical assistance and training workshops. The project has a high positive impact on the customers and their communities.

 learnBanking award – promotion of financial literacy

  • Programa de educación financiera Sanodelucas - Banco Santander (Chile)

Sanodelucas es una iniciativa de educación financiera creada por Banco Santander en Chile basada en las mejores prácticas internacionales y sigue las directrices de la OCDE. Su objetivo es potenciar la educación financiera de manera inclusiva, con innovación y tecnología, fomentando conductas que mejoren la calidad de vida de las personas y permitan el desarrollo de las PYME. El proyecto cuenta con una plataforma digital, que pone a disposición de los usuarios abierta y gratuitamente, información útil y de calidad para tomar decisiones que permitan concretar sus proyectos financieros. Además, Banco Santander pone a disposición el Centro de Educación Financiera, un lugar equipado con computadoras para acceder al portal y guías que introducen al uso de la plataforma

 planetBanking award – adaption and response to the effects of climate change

  • BanCO2 - Bancolombia (Colombia)

Banco2 es una estrategia de pago por servicios ambientales creada por Bancolombia, que permite a las empresas, instituciones y ciudadanía, a través del portal web, calcular y compensar su huella de carbono. Los receptores de los recursos obtenidos a través de BanCO2 son los propios campesinos en zonas de interés ambiental. Los pagos a los campesinos representan el costo de oportunidad por la conservación de los ecosistemas y su permanencia en los bosques de los que son dueños. El proyecto tiene por objetivo la conservación de los bosques para el almacenamiento de carbono, beneficios de regulación hídrica, paisajismo y biodiversidad. También pretende mejorar la calidad de vida de los campesinos permitiéndoles permanecer en sus bosques y haciéndoles llegar servicios financieros a zonas remotas.

Vox Capital Investing Fund is Brazil's first and most ative impact investing fund.
