Transport Network
Regional Policy Dialogue
The Transport Network is constituted by Vice-ministers or senior government officials or equivalent status, responsible for the policy design, implementation and execution of transport policy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The network's objective is to create a venue in which representatives can exchange experiences and explore areas of regional cooperation aiming at closing the gap between real investment needs and the projected investment in the region.
The creation of the network responds to the increasing demand of borrowing member countries for technical support and guidance in the implementation of mega infrastructure projects. In this sense, the network's activities complement the Bank's initiatives in the areas of sustainable transport, road safety, and freight logistics.
In 2011, the network will organize its first meeting, which will focus on mega projects. For this meeting, the network will elaborate an action plan identifying actions to face the challenge of executing mega projects in the area of transport infrastructure.
