IDB offers three types of loans to the public sector, also known as Sovereign Guaranteed loans.

The IDB offers loans to the private sector, also known as Non-Sovereign Guaranteed Loans (NSG).

The Bank has adopted specific criteria and methodologies to ensure it is able to measure the results of a specific intervention, monitor project progress, and their impact and produce evidence of what works and why in development interventions.

Civil society organizations also participate in the consultation process on projects being executed in different countries in the region.

IDB-financed projects generate over 20,000 contracting opportunities per year, through bidding processes administered by public agencies in borrowing member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The IDB responds directly to concerns raised by individuals or communities affected by projects via the Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (ICIM).The Office of Institutional Integrity also plays a key role in the IDB Group’s efforts to combat corruption.
