Project Description

Wheat and potato crops are of great importance both regionally and globally. In South America, for example, wheat is the most important annual crop in the south central region, in terms of volume, area and economic value of production. Climate change could severely impact traditional agricultural activities, reducing the income differences between regions. The objective of this program is to contribute to the improvement of the adaptive capacity of the region, through an increase in the competitiveness of the productive systems of potato and wheat to climate change in South America. Specifically, the project will support the selection and development of genotypes with increased tolerance to drought and high temperatures. The project is being led and implemented by local institutions
