DR-L1041 : INAPA Water and Sanitation Investment Program
Project Description
This program aims to assist in the expansion of the coverage of efficient, sustainable water and sanitation services in seven provinces of the Dominican Republic (Barahona, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, Independencia, San Juan, San Pedro de Macorís y San Cristobal). Additionally, the project seeks to deconcentrate the delivery of water and sanitation services in urban and periurban areas in those sevenprovinces to four regional INAPA offices, and in rural areas to Asociaciones Comunitarias de Acueductos Rurales [rural community waterassociations] (ASOCARs), providing administrative, technical, and operational support to these offices as well as human resources trainingand equipment, so they become efficient in terms of revenues, costs, and operations. The program is also strengthening the commercial, technical/operational, and administrative management at INAPA¿s main offices so it can better deliver services in the other provinces under its responsibility andperform its planning and supervisory functions in the provinces for which service is to be deconcentrated.
