Contribution to IDB operations

- EUR sought inclusion of the IDB within the Latin American Investment Facility (LAIF), which will provide grants to the Region for €125m in the period 2010-13. Identified six potential operations to be co-financed with a grant from LAIF, as well as co-financed by the European Investment Bank, and other multilateral and bilateral sources of funding (AECID, AFD-PROPARCO, KfW, NIB/NDF, SIMEST, SOFID, etc.).
- Sought parallel and joint co-finance of more than a dozen IDB operations with multilateral and bilateral agencies based in Europe, including EIB, OFID, NDF, AECID-ICO, AFD-PROPARCO, BIO, DEG-KfW, OeEB, PROPARCO, SDC-SECO, and other agencies.
- Contributed to the process of identification, design and execution of IDB Group operational activities (including MIF and IIC).
- Supervised the MIF-Funded Regional Operation of Migratory Model of Voluntary Return based on the Development of Entrepreneurship Capacities (ATN/ME-10171-RG).
- Followed-up on proposed CEPES-MIF projects; three projects were presented for co financing at FOMIN in 2009 and a fourth one in January 2010.
- Promoted cofinancing of specific projects: (i) establishment of a Training Center in Water and Sanitation (French consortium involving the Ministries of Economy and Environment, the AgroParis-Tech school, the water agency Seine-Normandie and the companies Veolia Environment, Suez and Saint Gobain Pont-à Mousson – €300,000 mobilized); and (ii) the development of a Training Center in Construction (French consortium, involving the Ministry of Education, the NGO Aide et Action and the Corporate Foundation Schneider Electric – €500,000 mobilized).
