Leading economists on Latin America will participate in a panel discussion at the Inter-American Development Bank on Friday, Sept. 17, examining A Decade of Development Thinking: What Have We Learned?
The panel will be inaugurated by IDB President Enrique V. Iglesias at 4 p.m. in the Andrés Bello Auditorium of Bank headquarters, and it will be followed by a reception.
Co-hosted by IDB Chief Economist Guillermo Calvo and former IDB Chief Economist Ricardo Hausmann, the event will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Bank’s Research Department.
Among the speakers will be Nancy Birdsall, former IDB executive vice president and now president of the Center for Global Development; Colombia’s Finance Minister Alberto Carrasquilla; Nora Lustig, president of the Universidad de las Américas of Puebla, Mexico; Guillermo Perry, chief economist for the Latin America and Caribbean Region, World Bank; Mariano Tommasi, director, Department of Economics, Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina; and Andrés Velasco, professor, Harvard University.
