Jan 26, 2000 The international donor community expressed strong support for Peru's continuing fight against drugs at a meeting in Paris. The meeting, of the Consultative Group on the Fight Against Drugs in Peru, was the follow-up to the Group's first encounter in Brussels in November, 1998 - which launched the ground-breaking initiative to involve the international community in a shared responsibility with a drug-producing country in the war against drugs. After expressing their satisfaction with the Peruvian government's progress in implementing its anti-drug program over the last year, the donors pledged an additional $56 million to bring their total commitments up to $187 million, and agreed to accelerate disbursement of existing pledges under the auspices of the Consultative Group on the Fight Against Illicit Drugs in Peru.
Jan 24, 2000 Following consultations between the Inter-American Development Bank and the authorities of Peru and Ecuador, the Consultative Group Meeting for Peru and Ecuador in support of the Binational Development Plan, due to have been held under the auspices of the Inter-American Development Bank in Paris on Jan. 24-25, has been postponed. It will now be held in New Orleans in conjunction with the IDB Annual Meeting there at the end of March. The Paris meeting was rescheduled due to the political developments in Ecuador that led to the installation of the new president.
Jan 19, 2000 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of a $120 million loan to Peru to support the first three-year phase of a six-year, $367 million program to improve the quality and coverage of secondary education in Peru.
Jan 12, 2000 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of $206.5 million in financing to Peru to strengthen an ongoing government public finance sector reform program designed to obtain prudence, transparency and accountability of fiscal policy and improve investor confidence.
Dec 16, 1999 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of a $120 million loan to Peru to assist the reconstruction of physical infrastructure and the resumption of services affected by the El Niño climate phenomenon, which produced disastrous flooding during 1997 and 1998.
Nov 16, 1999 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of a $1 million loan to Peru to assist the National Customs Superintendency in the consolidation and expansion of its quality system.
Oct 14, 1999 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of an $87 million loan to Peru to support the first stage of a $197 million program to modernize and reform the health care system in order to improve its quality and expand its coverage.
Sep 27, 1999 Inter-American Development Bank President Enrique V. Iglesias and the general director of the Export-Import Bank of Japan’s Loan Department III, Kunio Sanuki, on Sunday signed a co-financing agreement to support the second phase of Peru’s Multisector Credit Program, which fosters the development of private sector enterprises.

He also participated on Aug. 24 in a panel on "Financial Crisis, Economic Adjustment and Answers in the Employment Sector".
Aug 11, 1999 The Inter-American Development Bank announced the approval of $310.9 million in financing to help strengthen the Peruvian financial system and to assist the development of capital markets, mortgage markets, and greater access of low-income groups to financial services.
