MICI-BID-BR-2017-0123 and MICI-BID-EC-2017-0124 –Two new complaints received.

In July, MICI received two new complaints linked to Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) projects in Ecuador and Brazil.

MICI-CII-ME-2017-0122 – MICI receives the first Request about a project linked to the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC).

On July 25, 2017, MICI received the first complaint financed by the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC). This complaint was related to the "Grupo Corporativo Papelera S.A. de C.V." project in Mexico.

MICI-BID-HA-2017-0114- Productive Infrastructure Program – Request II - Result of the Consultation Phase Assessment published.

On March 23, the assessment stage was initiated, with the objective of understanding the context of the request, the perspectives of the parties, collecting information and, finally, determining whether a dialogue between the interested parties would be feasible. On June 27, MICI determined that the complaint is eligible for the Consultation Phase.

MICI-BID-CR-2016-110 - “Reventazon Hydroelectric Power Project”, the Board of Executive Directors instructs not to proceed with the Compliance Review recommended by MICI.

On June 19, 2017 the Executive Board of Directors considered the Policy and Evaluation Committee (PEC) Chair Report on the Recommendation for conducting a Compliance Review and Terms of Reference regarding the “Reventazon Hydroelectric Power Project” presented by MICI on May 23, 2017.

BR-MICI006-2011- São José dos Campos Urban Structuring Program (Brazil) - Compliance Review Report published.

On June 19, 2017, the Board of Executive Directors of the Bank, in a meeting with the General Committee, considered the Compliance Review Report presented by MICI, regarding the “São José dos Campos Urban Structuring Program”.

MICI-BID-BR-2017-0118- Mario Covas Rodoanel Project (Brazil) - Eligibility Memorandum Published

On May 19, 2017, MICI concluded that the complaint was not eligible, as it failed to meet the criteria established in the MICI Policy, due to the decision by the complainants to withdraw their claim in order to explore alternative resolutions.

CO-MICI002-2011 – “El Dorado International Airport” (Colombia) – Compliance Review Report and IDB Board of Directors’ Decision published.

In May of 2017, the IDB Board of Executive Directors met in a session of the General Commission to consider the Compliance Review Report, presented by MICI, for “El Dorado International Airport” (CO-MICI002-2011).

MICI-BID-HA-2017-0114– Productive Infrastructure Program (Haiti) – The MICI team conducts a mission to Haiti as part of the Consultation Phase.

During May 8 to 24, 2017, the MICI team conducted two missions to Haiti: one to Port Au Prince and the other to the Caracol area as part of the evaluation process of the Consultation Phase for case MICI-BID-HA-2017-0114 regarding the IADB’s financing of the Caracol Industrial Park (CIP) under the “Productive Infrastructure Program.”

MICI-BID-CH-2017-0115- Alto Maipo Hydroelectric Power Project (Chile) – Eligibility Memorandum Published

On May 1, MICI determined that the complaint was eligible, as it met the criteria established by the Mechanism’s Policy. This determination is not an evaluation of the merits or the topics presented in the complaint, nor is it an evaluation of the compliance or non-compliance of the Bank in relation to its relevant Operational Policies. The complaint was transferred to the Compliance Review Phase, as per the Requesters’ wishes. The start of the investigation does not imply the suspension of the execution of the project.
