Public Consultation Process

Competitive Regional and Global Integration Strategy

The IDB wishes to express its appreciation to all the participants for their valuable time, input and collaboration during the public consultation process.

Competitive Regional and Global Integration Strategy. Approved March 2011.

Public Consultation

The public consultation process comprised two phases, as described in the IDB Strategy for Promoting Citizen Participation in the Bank’s Activities:

The First Phase focused on the Competitive Regional and Global Integration Strategy Profile authorized by the Board of Executive Directors of the IDB, and began on November 4, 2010, ending on December 6, 2010.

The Second Phase focused on the Draft Competitive Regional and Global Integration Strategy, which ended on February 24, 2011.

The objective of the Draft Competitive Regional and Global Integration Strategy (the Draft Strategy) was to offer a preliminary proposal to increase and sharpen the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) contribution to the regional and global integration of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

The Draft Strategy provided a rationale for integration, a diagnosis, background information and lessons learned from the Bank’s support to integration. The document also proposes to support the region in simultaneous investments in the software (policy and regulatory frameworks) and hardware (physical integration) of integration through a tentative list of areas and actions as well as a new smart-mix of instruments to promote integration in Latin America and the Caribbean as way to increase the region’s competitiveness and create jobs.
