Types of Jobs

We recruit our professional staff both internationally and nationally from among our member countries. Typically, our staff will be initially offered a fixed term contract of up to 3 years that shall be converted into an open ended contract upon a screening process conducted by an inter-departmental committee.

The IDB also hires professionals on a fee basis for specific tasks and projects.

Consultant contracts are characterized by well-defined deliverables associated with highly specialized services or the performance of tasks to complete specific products at set rates. Consultant contracts will be based on the time required for delivering specific products, up to a maximum of 190 working days or 1,520 working hours in a 12-month period.

Temporary Help contracts are designed to meet increases in workload or to provide services for short periods, generally for support activities that do not require highly specialized skills beyond those normally acquired through some post-secondary education and relevant practical experience. These contracts may not extend beyond a maximum term of 12 months less one day.

Trust Fund Appointments provide expert advice, conduct studies and coordinate programs and related activities pursuant to trust funds administered by the IDB. Trust fund appointees are usually selected by the participating member states.
