Frederico Jayme is Alternate Executive Director for Brazil and Suriname at the Inter-American Development Bank. Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, he has a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research in New York and holds a tenured position at the Department of Economics of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. From 1994 to 2015, he taught macroeconomics, international economics, and development economics, both on the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Jayme was a visiting scholar at Downing College of the University of Cambridge in 2014, when he worked on development and macroeconomics. He has published several works in journals on macroeconomics, development and international economics and he edited three books, two of them on development banks. He also supervised more than 20 M.A. and Ph.D. dissertations.
Before joining the IDB Dr. Jayme served as a member of the board of the Banco Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG).
