Carlos Pared Vidal is Alternate Executive Director for the Dominican Republic and Mexico at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Mr. Pared Vidal specializes in economic development, international affairs, finance, competitiveness strategies, investment attraction, and foreign trade promotion. He has served as the Deputy Director of the Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana [Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic] and as Strategic Advisor to the Consejo Nacional de Competitividad [National Competitiveness Council]. His private sector experience includes providing consulting and advisory services, leading projects on asset valuation and mergers and acquisitions, as well as raising capital for companies with annual operating income of over $150 million. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana [Dominican Liberation Party] and was part of the team that devised and coordinated the platform for the political engagement of citizens “Ponte pa’ tu país,” which was recognized as an Example of Global Innovation. Pared has been invited to speak at universities, including George Washington University, on the political and electoral system of the Dominican Republic.
He holds degrees in economics and corporate finance from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has also studied at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, the School of Public Management at George Washington University, and the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
