Mauricio Silva is Alternate Executive Director for Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).  Dr. Silva has been working in development - fighting for a more just world, a world with less poverty - for almost 40 years.  For more than 20 years, Mr. Silva worked at the World Bank and the IDB.  He founded and directed three NGOs in his native country of El Salvador and one in the USA, in the areas of health, housing and community development, micro enterprises and local governments.  He has been an advisor to Monsignor Oscar Romero and to the Mayor of San Salvador and has been a member of several governing boards of development institutions.  Dr. Silva has an M.P.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
