  • FOMIN grants $3 million to help local partners and shortens project approval procedures in Haiti

    FOMIN, the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank, has set up a $3 million line of financing to help its executing agency partners –the government agencies or private firms carrying out FOMIN projects—reopen for business as soon as possible and has established a shortened set of approval procedures for its projects in Haiti during the next 12 months.

  • Reconstructing Haiti: Water

    DINEPA, the Haitian government’s water and sanitation authority asked IDB to find several granulated chlorine and ship it to Port-au-Prince to disinfect drinking water for survivors.

  • Keeping remittances flowing to Haiti

    Getting remittances that Haitians in the United States were sending to their relatives in Haiti includes a heroic feat by Fonkoze—an alternative bank for the poor that specializes in micropayments—negotiations deep into the night and cash drops by U.S. soldiers.
