Frequently ask questions about Podcast

Q. What is a podcast? A. A podcast is a technology for delivering audio files to listeners over the Internet, via a "feed". You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.

Q. What do I need to listen to a podcast? A. The first thing you need is podcast subscription software. Your options include the latest version of Apple's iTunes (which has the software built in), or other services such as Odeo or iPodder, to manage your podcast subscriptions. If you want to make your podcasts portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device.

Q. How do I subscribe or download a podcast? A. Once you have a podcasting program like those noted above, you can subscribe in two ways. You may subscribe to many podcasts by clicking the buttons for popular tools like iTunes and My Yahoo!

If you don't see a button for your preferred tool, simply highlight the URL in the box next to the orange [POD] icon. You can also copy and past the URL for a program into the podcasting window. For specific details, please check the help file for your software. In iTunes you can find this option under the "Advanced" menu as "Subscribe to podcast."

Q. How do I set up iTunes? A. Launch iTunes. If you don't have it, get it here. In the Advanced menu, select Subscribe to Podcast. Paste the URL address from the box on our page into the text box in iTunes and click OK. You can access the videos by clicking on the Podcasts menu item in the Library on the left-hand side of iTunes.
