PROMINENT PERSONALITIES TO PRESENT AT CONFERENCE ON "THE UNRESOLVED ETHICAL AGENDA IN LATIN AMERICA" IN MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY - DECEMBER 18 AND 19, 2003

Registration is now open for the large conference in Montevideo on December 18 and 19, 2003, coordinated by the Inter-American Initiative on Social Capital, Ethics and Development established by the IADB and the Government of Norway. Other organizers include the University of the Republic, the Catholic University, the Division of State and Civil Society of Region 1 of the IADB, the Government of Norway, the Government of France and various national, regional, and sub-regional organizations.

President of the IADB, Enrique V. Iglesias, will inaugurate the conference, along with Uruguayan Minister of Education Leonardo Guzman, and President of the University of the Republic, Rafael Guarga Ferro. Bernardo Kliksberg, head of the Initiative, will give the opening remarks. Among other presenters will be Minister Cesar Buzatto, President of the Special Commission on Social Responsibility in the Public Sector of the Legislative Assembly of the States of Rio Grande and Sul in Brazil; Carmelo Angulo Barturen, Director of the UNDP of Argentina; Orlando Reos, Head of the Division of State and Civil Society of Region 1 of the IADB; Carlos de Grossi Decano of the Faculty on Economic Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires and Antonio Vives, Deputy Manager, Financial Markets and Private Enterprise, IDB.
