Anne Hassberger

Anne Hassberger is the deputy head, a.i., of the International Financial Institutions Division, at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), where she concentrates on the Latin America and Caribbean region. From 2002 to 2005, she worked with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tanzania. Prior to that, she was at the World Bank from 2000-2002.

Anthony Zinni

On July 16, 2007, Anthony Zinni assumed the position of executive vice president of DynCorp International, a global company providing services for humanitarian operations, nation building, disaster preparedness, airfield and port management and construction. General Zinni retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a 4 Star General in September 2000 after 39 years of service. During his military career, he served as the Commanding General of the First Marine Expeditionary force from 1994 – 1996, and as Commander –in-Chief of the U.S. Central Command from 1997 to 2000. In November 2001, he was appointed senior adviser and U.S. envoy to the Middle East by Secretary of State Collin Powell. He currently holds several positions on several boards of directors and advisors of major U.S. companies and non-profit organizations.

Lorenza Martnez Trigueros

Lorenza Martnez Trigueros is the head of the Insurance, Pensions and Social Security Unit of the Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. She is in charge of formulating and implementing public policies, aimed at promoting the development of the financial sector. She is responsible for the regulation and supervision of the insurance and pensions markets. She is also responsible to analyze and suggest improvements to the country’s social security system; as well as to coordinate the Ministry’s catastrophic risk management strategy. Previously she was a professor of Economics at ITAM and director of Economics Studies at the Central Bank of Mexico. She has specialized in the analysis of Mexican financial markets and has written several papers on this subject. Her work has been published by MIT Press, Brookings Papers of Economic Activity and the Journal of Development Economics, among others.

Omar D. Cardona

Omar D. Cardona is professor of the Institute of Environmental Studies of National University of Colombia and the University of Los Andes. He is the former president of the Colombian Association for Earthquake Engineering and the General Director of the National Directorate of Disaster Prevention and Attention of Colombia. He has been a consultant of the IDB, the World Bank, UNDP, and other agencies of UN. He is a founder member of the Latin American Network of Social Studies on Disaster Prevention (LA RED). In 2004 he was the winner of the UN Sasakawa Prize for Disaster Reduction. Mr. Cardona holds a degree in Civil Engineer from the National University of Colombia, Manizales, and a doctorate in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics from the Technical University of Catalonia.

Torben Juul Andersen (cand. polit., MBA, PhD)

Professor at the Copenhagen Business School, Torben Juul Andersen has been visiting professor at George Mason University, Johns Hopkins University, and the American College in Greece. He also held executive positions with Citibank, Citicorp Investment Bank and Unibank. Dr. Andersen has published several books on international risk management issues and more than 30 academic articles with leading contributions to a ‘new risk management’ paradigm focused on organizational agility and strategic responsiveness. He has been involved in analyses of disaster risk policies for the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank Group and the OECD.
