The Country Strategy 2022-2026 will support Chile in building its productive capacities to address future situations, and in promoting the well-being of the population. To that end, the IDB Group will support the country in promoting innovation and productivity, and in building institutional capacities to meet the population’s needs, procuring sustainable, inclusive growth. This strategic approach will be based on two pillars:

(i) promoting social cohesion and inclusion; and

(ii) enabling the economy of the future. Both pillars will address the crosscutting themes of gender, diversity, inclusion, and equity; climate action and sustainability; institutional capacity and the rule of law; regional focus; and digitalization.

Chile is one of the founding member countries of the IDB. Like all the shareholders, Chile appoints a Governor, who represents the country on the Board of Governors.

For day-to-day business at the Bank's Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Chile is represented by a chair on the Board of Executive Directors. The chair, shared with Ecuador, is headed by an Executive Director, who is elected to a three-year term by the Governors of Chile and Ecuador.

Country strategies remain valid for one year beyond the stated period, as they remain active throughout the preparation of the following strategy.
